If you’d like to schedule an author visit for your classroom, library or writer’s group, please contact me at Susan@Susandrewwrites.com.
Here are my available programs:
For little readers – Kindergarten and 1st grade students (30 minutes) We’ll read Sadie Does Not Like Sorries, talk about what it means to brainstorm, and do a brainy craft. There will be time for brainstorming what Sadie could have done differently.
How to write a picture book – for 2nd – 5th grade students (45 minutes to an hour) After reading Sadie Does Not Like Sorries, we’ll discuss picture book structure, and write one together.
Critique Group – for a small group of writers who have a piece of writing – maybe a short story, essay or poem. (45 minutes to an hour). I’ll share a work in progress and teach the sandwich method of critique – positive feedback, constructive criticism, and positive reinforcement. Participants will have a chance to share their work, receive and give feedback.
Journey to Publication – (45 minutes to an hour) How I went from writing my first picture book, to querying agents, landing an agent, going on submission, editing and on to the final book.
Query Clinic – adults (hour) For those who are hoping to be traditionally published, finding an agent is the first step. Bring your query for a hands-on working session.
How to build your writer community – adults (hour) For those starting their writing journey. Talk about what’s holding you back from pursuing your dream and resources to help you along the way.
All events include a time for questions, and can include time for book signings. I’m happy to customize a presentation to fit your needs.
